Ah, what a swell day. First, I go to do the 60,000 mile service on the daily driver. No problem, I got all the parts and fluids I neeeded. Got the transmission drained, and find out the parts guy gave me the wrong crush washers to put on the fill plug. Fortunately, it's the fill plug, so I can manage with re-using the old one in the short term, but I didn't get to do the differential fluid because he gave me 3 of the wrong size washers, so I already know they won't fit the differential plugs.
So, I get it mostly done, but suddenly the wife gets my attention and says we need to rescue the indoor cats from the outside. It seems the not-so-bright one finally launched himself out the porch window screen to try to catch the birds at the bird bath, and tore out the whole screen! Of course, his buddy was on the porch and followed him out there to help him finish off the bird he successfully caught. Okay, new screen needed, but we got the cats rounded up.
Go for a test drive in the car to make sure all is well, and pick up the mail. Oh joy, there's a notice to pick up a registered letter from the numbskull who bought my old house a year ago. I'm guessing he's still suffering from buyer's remorse and thinks I should give him more money, despite already giving him a $1500 allowance to fix the cracked floor in the back garage (among other things). Last year, he called my agent to complain about the water seeping in from around the front garage door seal. Well duh, you can see daylight around the door seal, and he did get a home inspection at my expense. I parked my wet, snow-covered car in the garage, so I wasn't too concerned about a small amount of water. Seems that didn't jive with his plans to turn it into another bedroom, so he asked for more money back then to fix it. We said no, and even my agent was amazed he kept asking for more after everything was signed off. Sigh. I don't want to know what he wants now.
And to top it off, the wife started a load of laundry while I was showering after working on the car, and the washer promptly took all the available hot water pressure. She apologized profusely when I got out, but that's kind of how this day went. Tomorrow will be a better day. And I'm hoping the registered letter is the buyer returning the $1500 because he decided not to fix the floor after all!
