TR2/3/3A Vent lid link length

One of the parts missing on my project car is the metal link that opens and closes the the vent. I am going to make one, (a straight piece of metal with two holes) but I would like to find out the length if possible.

Thanks,
Dick

Hi Dick,

If you are talking about a TR3, it is a thin metal rod. The rod fits through a fitting with a nut on the belcrank that lifts the flap up and down. Not sure of the length though...

You can just see the rod in the right hand side of this photo of the mechanism

I can try and get that for you later tonight.

Tough to measure in there, but I broke of a piece of paint stick and fit it in there against the metal link. It is 5 inches in length from rounded end to rounded end.

Thanks for measuring this!
The length and your photo will make easy to duplicate.

Well, that's what I thought I got....like I said, I put a piece of paint stick in there and held it against the link then took it out and measured it with a metal ruler....

Is your link out of the car? I can double check my measurement tomorrow. Can't believe I am that far off but I have been wrong before. Sorry to Dick if I am....

I wonder if I was reading a metric ruler (5 cm is 2 inches)....didn't think I had a metric ruler in the garage but it is possible..
