TR2/3/3A Vent cowl lid mounting points

I am attempting to attach the vent cowl lid. Have read old posts and am sure I know how its done. My problem is the mounting holes do not seem to line up correctly. In prior posts the holes for mounting the operating mechanism appear to be centered and inside of the holes for mounting the lid. As you can see, that's not the case for me. In fact the operating mechanism right hand hole is outside of the right hand hole for the vent lid. Naturally, nothing lines up so I wanted to at least get a second opinion before I started drilling new holes to move the operating mechanism. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Went and checked. On my 1960, the front holes are centered on the vent and have just slightly less spacing than the rear holes...which are also centered.

Thanks, that's what I thought but as you can see my front holes are right of center. I made some quick measurements and think I'll have to move them over about 1/2 inch. Seems to be way off but I am replacing the vent lid so I don't know how the old one was aligned. Thanks

Can you take a mirror on a stick and look up from top and perhaps see if the original holes might still be visible?
