Trying to help my bro out on his "B".
Is this the gasket preferred by the alloy cover users?
Cover Gasket

I can't say about the alloy part, Don, but it's a mighty fine gasket.
It's thick and doesnt take a lot of bolt down to seal.

Don,

I have one of them on the aftermarket alloy covers on my 6 and my 3A.

Cheers,
Tush

Don- I just installed one on my 6 and Leaks-be-gone!

I have one in transit from Gasket Innovations. They advertise that there are separate gaskets for the alloy and stock valve covers

Directions for the alloy cover indicates you can adhere either side. One side of my gasket is dull red and flat, the other is shiny smooth and looks SLIGHTLY concave? Does it make a difference?

You sure you have the right one because it says here:
"The cross-section of this gasket is rectangular to suit the sealing surface of the alloy valve cover. "

Gordon, that's a perfect description of the one I just got for the stock valve cover on my Herald. If it's any indication, the "shiny and slightly concave" side it the side that goes to the head. (With a stock valve cover, the other side is the rounded side, theoretically to better conform to the valve cover. I hope they're right about that and about how well the other side seals to the head!)
