VB or Moss for engine rebuild parts?

rebuilding my 1500 I can save a bit of money by going to VB especially with their specials currently they are offering. I was wondering if anyone has any comments or experience on the quality of parts offered by VB for engine rebuilds?

Mostly the same stuff from both. I don't buy from Moss, for historical reasons.

Take a look at British Parts Northwest, too: https://www.bpnorthwest.com/, and search around the internet a bit--there are really good suppliers around, who actually appreciate your business and don't act like you owe it to them.

There are also several Moss resellers, like Little British Car Co. lbcarco.com , same Moss numbers but lower prices and more specials.

Don't forget Peter C from World Wide Auto Parts, he does our shocks and he also sells quality parts.
All my engine parts, and I do at least one engine a year, all come from Peter.

I think mostly the same - I used VB's sale for pretty much everything - no complaints for ordinary driving.

I use BPNW for alot the engine parts I use, and they are in your backyard, I find VB to be only offering standard issue parts, no uprated parts, then add to that they offer basicly no tech advice. I like BPNW because they offer uprated choices, like Payen gaskets, King tri metal bearings, Durabond cam bearings, just to name a few, I use APT cams and lifters, not cheap, but the best. Cheap is not the way you want to go with engine parts, you only want to do this job once is my advice.

Here's a biggie for me, the factory used tri metal bearings in your engine originally, so why on earth would you want to only use bi metal bearings in them now, but thats all some vendor offer, BPNW offers a tri metal bearing for your engine in the King line, and it pretty affordable too, so why would not someone want to use that. You'll find in the uprated parts add very little to the overall cost of the parts, but offer much more longer lasting parts. As for Payen gasket set I find they always fit, where the cheap no name gasket sets often times have to be made to fit.

Good advice on the bearings Hap. I used Vandervall trimetal in mine.

If your on a budget and considering Moss or BV, why not save 15-20% and buy the EXACT same parts from LBCC or Roops MG. Chris Roop is in Pendelton and resells Moss at -15%

OTOH you could sorce new parts from Hap or Peter C, save some $ and get expert technical advise at the same time.

Payen gaskets are the way to go dont even bother with anything but for the headgasket. I didnt the first time and learned the hard way.
