TR4/4A Variable Clutch Engagement

Hi All

Just a quick note which may be helpful to others. The past season or two I noticed the engagement level on the clutch pedal was mysteriously changing by itself. One drive it would engage low. Next drive it would engage high. Not a huge problem but, definitely annoying. And, no idea on what was going on (my only thought was the slave cylinder was on its way out).

Then, for unrelated reasons I had to pull the clutch master cylinder. I decided to replace all the hardware and noticed the clevis pin at the clutch MC had a reasonable amount of wear on it. I reinstalled the clutch MC with all new hardware and - low and behold - the clutch engagement level is right back where it is supposed to be and rock solid! That was an unexpected added-bonus. The old clevis pin lasted about 8,000 miles and I seem to recall I used a stainless steel one last time (bad idea?).

Suffice to say I was very satisfied and wanted to pass this on in case anyone experiences a similar issue.

Bob
