Vandalism

I had a late night last night, got home and just threw the car cover over the Sprite.

Normally I'd put the side curtains on and the top on and then the car cover, it was late and I was tired so I just threw the cover on and went to bed.

Just now I went out and pulled the cover off and saw it.
Someone tossed an egg in, busted all over the dash and splattered on the bonnet too.

The paint on the bonnet has peeled up, the dash seems to have survived but is a real mess. The defroster vent seems to have been infiltrated, I will have to remove the hose and the piece under the dash to get this cleaned up.

My son said he heard people out there some time after I went to bed.

This is a small town, I don't believe I've made anyone angry so that they want to hurt me like this.
Stupid vandalism, this sucks.

Random, senseless vandalism. Too much time on somebody's hands...

Sorry it happened, Rick, and I hope you can fix it back OK.

Mickey

"NO RESPECT"! That does suck & hope it all cleans up nicely for yourself.

I know I`d sure be PO`d!!

Regards, Russ

Senseless. I think sometimes it is envy gone awry.
First rule of manhood...don't screw with another man's car.
Here's hoping that bad karma they tossed comes back like a boomerang. In triplicate.
:madder:

If you purchased physical damage comprehensive coverage on your auto policy, you may turn a claim into your insurer if you wish. Comprehensive covers vandalism. If the paint is damaged, you may need it.

Be sure to report this to police, especially if you intend to file an insurance claim. Even if they're essentially powerless to do anything about it, they need to know about such incidents.

Sorry to hear this, we put so much into these cars, it's a shame when something like this happens.

@#$%^%$ varmints, I hope they get caught next time. :frown:

What about your son? Does he have enemies?

Rick,
I hate to hear about things like that happening.
I had something (cleaner or brake fluid) put on our two
Cortinas,& Coke sprayed down the sides of our Aerostar
van.One of our "neighbors" did it,but I couldnt prove it.
I know how you feel.

Snoqualmie is a small town, but, with the addition of the BIG new houses above the falls, it's anybodies guess.

North Bend is just up the road, Fall City and Preston just down the road.

Saturday night, local shi......errrr.....ruffians have nothing better to do.

Smashing mailboxes with baseball bats, egging cars and houses, slashing tyres.

Happens.

They try to get their "kicks", even during the school year.
One day, going down the road less than 2 miles from the house, following a school bus which was making pickups, it had stopped, lights and "stop" sign out, car full of what appeared to be high schoolers came around me on the right, doing at least 40 on the dirt shoulder, right past the open door of the schoolbus, kids jumping into the bushes, and they just kept on going.

I guess if there is any good news, a rock or a brick is worse than an egg, still, sucks - sorry to hear of it and sorry your neighbourhood feels a little less safe.

Thanks guys,

Well at least it's lit a bit of a fire under me to finally replace that hood.
I have a proper Sprite hood, there is a quite a bit of surface rust on it so I was attacking that today. I will need to do some sanding and some priming and some painting but it shouldn't take too long.

Probably just youth with too much time on their hands. I would like to catch them though, that could be fun...

:madder: I'm infuriated for ya. Just makes no sense at all. People just don't care about the money and time (mostly time!) we put into these things. You had better things to do than re-do a hood and scrub out your defroster vents. You had no reason to do them; you'd rather be out enjoying the car, and fix things on your own time. Now thanks to these d!c@h#ad$ with nothing better to do, you've been forced to do extra work, on their schedule, fixing up something you'd nothing to do with. Grr! :madder:

I'm reminded of the stupidity of vandalism every time I drive and can't turn on my radio. I still seethe over it. I hope I never meet the cretins that raped my car, 'cuz it'd take an act of God to keep me from cracking their craniums on the pavement...and ya can't drive in prison.

Ya don't mess with a man's car. True words.

I have a daughter getting married this Sunday in our back yard.
Indeed I do have better things to do with my time, I am working on resisting distractions.
For now the car is moved off the street, my air sander refuses to work so I am turning back to the yard work and getting ready for the wedding.
I can work on the car after.

There used to be a good rapport between cops and members of the communities that they served, and I remember getting advise on which nights the hoodlums would most likely be out and about, So we would not get caught flat footed.
Cooler nights seem to dissuade evil doers.(don't want to be inconvenienced by the weather.) On really cold winter nights you could leave a wheelbarrow full of gold parked at the curb overnight. The Warm summer nights when its almost too hot for sleeping, be on guard.

We have the Legends car show here in August every year.
So far no Spridgets have been in this show, I want to put mine in there this time.

I want to have my hood on and lookin good for that, I think its on 8/21.
They literally hold this thing one block from my house.

There still is good rapport in most areas. Give them a call and find out, most cops are good folk just trying to do a (good) job.

I've worked very closely with the police in two cities, they're no better or worse than any other profession.

Rapport works two ways, BTW, give it a try!
