Valvoline VR1 Banned in California

While at the local NAPA,I thought that I'd check to see if VR1 was on sale.
NONE on the shelf,not even a price tag.I was told that they were ordered to pull it all,
plus any non-detergent motor oils,by order of the state.Guess I'll have to go to Oregon
to get more.
Starting to sound more & more like the Government State of California.
 
In a slightly similar vein, yesterday I was at a local automotive speciality shop and noticed Castrol GTX on sale - admittedly this location is the densist of the lot but I got the clear idea that none of them had even heard that oil could be as thick as 20W50 much less keep it in stock!
 
With a little digging, you'll find that California didn't ban Valvoline VR1.
