Valve Cover Bling

Umm Yeah,

Yes, you would need three and they are pricey.

Cheers,

Just for the record, Joe saw this thread and the picture and realized that he sent me a set that needed polishing and was not to be sold. Within two days I had a new, bright and shiny set at my door.

Can't beat Joe for anything!

I agree. He is the best.
How much does he have them for? Seeing how I would need to spend $60 using someone else, Im shopping around. I actually found some sweet looking chrome bullet like acorn nuts at the ace hardware store, but for some reason the threading doesnt fit, even though I tested it with a nut that came off it. I went back and returned them, and got the exact same size as before, and they seem to fit. Look pretty sweet and only $1.79 a piece. I'll have to post up pictures

For reference, 5/16-24 will (should fit)

And in the mean time, they look like this:

Those are very nice as well. Just use a rubber seal under them. Joe's have a machined groove that an o-ring fits in, which does add to the cost.

Heh, the "needing polish" ones, still look nicer than anything under my hood so far. This winter I'll start cleaning, painting and polishing and whatnot pieces one at a time while I'm dismantling the car to put on the new frame =) Then i'll have to think about getting some bling for my valve cover like that. I like them, they look great!

Well, the two engines I got just used nuts and washers and were torqued down to much the metal dented. Although being chrome, the covers were very nasty and still has stuff baked onto them that I cant seem to get off... ...originally should rubber seals have been used? I wasnt going to, but since I probably already have some laying around, I supposed I can included the seal. Question is, should I even use a washer, and if so, should the seal go on top or below?

i use silicon backed stainless washers from McMaster

I like to order directly from Joe when I can. He's been traveling a lot this summer but I've gotten a few emails as well as Facebook updates from him all summer long. Try this email addy n197tr4@cs.com And, yes, his site isn't exactly up to date :nonod:

Aw c'mon, Doc. They're cool, you know it!

Especially those O-rings ... gotta have some myself!

Okay, Randall... they are. I didn't look to see if he has an MGB equivalent.

"TRIUMPH" would look kinda conspicuous under th' lid of th' B.

Doc,

That'l make the be go 20MPH faster, give to 50 extra
horsepower,& increase your milage by 50% - guarenteed!

- Doug

Not entirely true Doug.

I only got 15MPH higher top speed and the mileage improvement was no better that 13.5%.

Oddly, the dyno results showed no increase in torque or HP.
