Value for 71 XKE 2+2, V-12, AT, AC???

I am selling, for an estate, the car listed above. The deceased owner was in the process of sanding it and getting it ready for paint when he passed away. No signs of bondo; however, there is a small dent in the nose of the hood.
Light blue, dark blue leather. Widow states the miles are accurate at 26k. Engine and front end are clean enough to eat off of. Was last driven before Xmas.

Any idea on its value??

Thanks for your opinions!

I would have estimated $18-$20K, so I seem to be right in the ball-park. This is a very subjective issue. With the genuine mileage and the opportunity for any potential purchaser to see for himself that there is no bondo, I feel that this will serve to enhance the value. The downside is that the car has not been driven much, which can cause problems.

If this were my car, or if I were in your position, I would make my asking price around $23,000. Somebody may well pay that, but the 2+2 is not as desirable a car as the roadster. That being the case, if you were to realise $20-$21K from the sale of the car, you would be doing well. I may be a little high on my estimates, but I am sure that there will be other opinions posted in due course.

Good points Steve. I might back off even a couple thou more since it will require, as a minimum, a paint job, which will cost the buyer at least a couple grand.

Thanks for the opinions. I know the widow is not looking to get anywhere near $20k, though that would be nice. In fact, she'll probably take half that amount to be able to move on. I'm not a Jaguar know-it-all, so I'm posting these messages for help. Looks like someone will be able to take advantage of the situation and steal a nice Jag.

Don't sell it short - If its in decent shape, you should be able to get a reasonable price (more than $10k for sure)

Thanks, Basil. I'll pass that along to the widow; however, she is very motivated to sell and move out of state - perhaps back to England. No matter where she moves, she is not taking the car and needs to sell to close the estate.

I agree with Basil, don't be in too much of a hurry and end up selling it for less than it is really worth. One pitfall there is somebody seeing the low price and wondering what can be wrong with it. Asking too little can sometimes be as bad as asking too much in the classic car market. The low price will attract the very people that you would not want to attract.
