Valentines Day Blizzard '07

Just another snowy winter freezing rain kind of day with about twenty accidents viewed on the way to work. Frozen pellets kind a sting should be an interesting ride home.

Ok here's some lousy pics out of my kitchen and dining room windows. I aint takin the camera out in this!
I dedicate these to Tinster!

It started here about 8:00 last night, real fine snow, but pretty thick, hasn't let up since, it's 3:30 PM now and still going strong. Had about 2 feet on the cars this morning. Took my wife's jeep out and about. Most adjacent areas have a state of emergency, or no unnecessary travel. We just have a travel advisory here. It's supposed to keep going through sometime tonight. After that the winds are supposed to pick up and turn on the lake effect snow machine.

This is more like real winter for us...it's been nice, but weird, to have 60 degree temperatures in January. The kids are having a ball in the snow, but we put them to work cleaning the house, poor things! That'll teach 'em to cheer for a snow day!

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif Alright, already, it's not fun and exciting anymore and I think we have enough moisture - snow, that is. I don't know about you Basil, but we have over a foot. Couldn't even let the dog out the garage door because it piled to about 2 1/2 feet. Good neighbor plowed us a short time ago and I hand shoveled a small area in front of the garage.

Okay, okay "I'm complaining and that's that!"

I think I'm suffering from 'cabin fever?"

well i got the lawn tractor started, it made it abot 4 feet from the shed. And there it sits. MY neighbor just came by with his tractor and plowed out a good portion of my drive for me. Guess i owe him a beer now.. nice thing about folks around here, they believe in barter. still snowing closet to 18 inches by now, looks like tomorrow may be a snow day as well....

Save that tractor now, Mark, or you'll not see it again 'til the spring!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

ITs Too late... i threw a tarp over it and now its just a lump in the snow.

If I could attach a pic, we could commiserate, but:

Every time I 'click' the <u><span style="color: #006600">File Manager</span></u>...I get a little yellow triangle with an "!" over it in the status bar, next to "javascript:void" any idea what I'm doing wrong, or what my computer is doing wrong??

(I get the same message if I select the poll manager.)

My wife's jeep is doing fine with all this but then, she's got 33" tires!

About 50 degrees & raining here.
The sun was out yesterday.
Maybe we'll just stay in California.

Dar,

Do you have Java installed?

We got about 6" here, with a lot of drifting. Just as I was headed out the door at 5:15 this morning, a fellow forum member and co-worker knocked on the door. It seems as though he couldn't get his Jag S Type out of his perfectly flat, 50 foot long driveway!
So, we jumped in my Volvo and pulled right out of my driveway, which is uphill! I snickered.
He's riding in with me again in the morning.
Life is good. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Well its all over but for the shoveling. We got just about 24 inches. Sun is shining and the sky is Blue, Wind is gusting up around 20-30mph and it is only zero out there.Brrr

I ended up calling it a snow day yesterday. The county sheriff was asking folks to stay off the road except for emergencies, and when I saw the 15" of snow in our driveway I decided to call in and say I won't be in. Since it took 2.5 hours to make the 40 mile drive home the night before, I wasn't looking forward to it anyway. It still took us over an hour with the snowblower and shovels to get the driveway clear, but we just stayed home.

Yep, first thing I thought of, installed and running fine. I'm going to try and post a test photo from another machine at work, I'm sure it's the laptop, just puzzling why it won't work when Java does.

Dave,

Great link. Was wondering what all those deer were gonna do with all that snow. Guess they just come knocking on the door to be let in. Actually brings back fond memories of visiting my Aunts and Uncles in Pulaski, Clayton, and my grandparents in Watertown. Always seems to be non-stop snow up there but everybody going about there business like it's just another day. Down here you just mention the word snow and widespread panic starts. Gas stations and Grocery stores love it though.
