vacuum and vent line diagram

I'm wondering if anyone could run me through a 'basic' vent & vacuum system for my 1500. Mine is a mess between me and the DPO.

I'm not running any emissions gear but I still have the ZS (very temporary).

I'll save you the description of what I have and don't but if someone could run me through the necessary vac and vent lines for proper performance and where they hook up to specifically (in cases like the carb when there are multiple options) that would REALLY help me out.

Thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

BTW - I have the workshop manual if someone can refer to it and then strike lines as necessary....

Rob, i have some stock engine bay pics here
maybe these will help?

Sort of, Thanks.

I've managed to narrow my question down a little.

Take a look at this diagram:

carbpic.JPG

I presently have fuel comming in @ #7
#8 vents to the air
#5 goes to the distributor vac advance
All others are plugged.

So:

- is #5 an approproate location to get vacuum for the distributor?
- Should #8 vent or be plugged?
- should #3 vent or be plugged?
- any other lines on this need venting instead of plugging?

Also, I presently have no return line to the tank. As far as I can tell it only has one connection point unless the second is hidden in the trunk and I don't see it.

Thanks,
Rob

ok looks like #8 goes to the cannister(pic 56)
#3 goes to the cover breather at the "T"

pic 62, the vac adv is running over the valve cover on the front side of the engine to the flame trap, an looks like it is running to 5 Pic 62 again.

fuel return is only vapor i believe. it should run to the bottom of the cannister IIRC?.

Good Luck

Mark

ps this really reminds my why i like my weber.

LOL, yea, I tempted by the weber DGV and the SU HS4, but I have suspension issues to address first.

So it sounds like I have the right arrangement for vac advance (5) and vapor (8), I just wonder if #3 should vent or be plugged under the new arrangement. I would assume plugged sinc the valve cover is venting to the air and if it was venting too, then i would run too lean since it's expecting a fuel/air mix at that port.

If it will just stop raining I'll take it for a spin and confirm all this....
