Disconnecting the vacumn from your distributor will have no harmful effects whatsoever on the engine. You will have to reset the timing. The vacumn setup is there as a pollution thing. Plug the vacumn on the intake and close off the port(s) on the distributor. Set the timing with a strobe light to 8 degrees BFTDC and you're off and running. Many guys will set this by ear, but it seems that the 8 degree mark is about right. Wouldn't hurt to put a Lucas Sport coil on for a hotter spark. I am running triple Strombergs with a custom intake.
My power band is strong all the way through from low to high.
