Vacation coming, time to work on the B again

Finally it’s getting close to the time when I can leave the tundra and head back to soggy southern California. Hey at least the moisture will be in a liquid state /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Luckily my list is fairly short this time and hopefully I will be able to put some miles on the B.

The big one this time besides the front brakes is changing out the bulb for the temp gauge. Anyone have any hints on the best way to change the bulb and what type of bulb I will need. After that I will be hooking up the interior map light and replacing the cig lighter.

1 thing I would like to do is go ahead and rebuild the front suspension. The bushings are cracked and it will need to be done some time in the near future. Generally how much time would one expect to spend on rebuilding the front suspension on a B?
 
If your just replacing the bushes, it could be done in a day if things are not rusted up. I went with poly bushes and they were an easy install as they were split. I bought my bushes from this place. It's the same stuff that VB sells for a much better price. I did my front and rear.

Things get more complicated if your kingpins need to be replaced. I hope yours are in good shape as that gets pretty pricey.

If your really gung ho you and drop the entire front end as one unit and replace the cross memeber pads. It's not too bad, it's held up with four bolts. I dropped mine and had it sandblasted and painted. The only bit of advice I would give you if you decide to go this route is to pull the springs first. It's easier to do against the weight of the engine.
