V8 Project's Paint Scheme

I'm looking at it as a trial run for my own car. If I can put one in a CB car, I'll have no trouble with my own. One thing I can guarntee, the engine compartment will be painted with a rattle can so I can touch it up after I beat it with a hammer

Okay...I'll ratle can it before I bring it up to you! Or, before you come pick it up!

That THING has no engine, tranny, interior, or gas tank in it right now! When its finished it'll have its custom Hawke's suspension beam & will be lower than a stock chrome bumper car & will be putting 300hp at lightened aluminum billet flywheel!

Well, I didnt mean it as an insult, and i kinda figured it had no engine in it. That suspension is gonna be sweet though, What all will need to be done to shove a V8 in there? WHat transmission and rear end will you use?

Go to www.theautoist.com and look in the garage section for the 1979 V8 project....or just click here:

I actually spent most of my lunch yesterday reading through what Tony is doing with the V8 project. He's doing alot more than making it fit. He is really attending to the details and doing it right!

yeah that is a no money spared project. I've seen it in person and it's impressive. In fact I'm doing the low budget version with a v6. I bought the same hood from Tony, now I just gotta make a run to Huntsville to get it

looks like a neat project, What did that rover motor orignally come in? I have been pondering a throwing an SVO (2.3L ford turbo)motor into the Midget, It'll propel the heavy stang in to the 13s mostly stock so i could just imagine what it would do in the MG. my only thoughts are that the SOHC design of the motor would be too tall for the Midgets hood. A Rx7 12a looked like it could be fun as well.

Nice, I like the blacked-out bulge on the bonnet.

But what I really like the idea of incorporating x-power green into the project. Perhaps you might consider using the MG logo & strip on either the front or rear quarter. Maybe not as big, but kind’a like they used on the X-Powered MG EX259 pictured below.

Matter-a-fact, I think the whole MG X-power paint scheme might work great for a MGB V8 conversion. Along with the finder flares you mentioned, throw on a Special Tuning front spoiler and a Sebring rear valance you’d have a real show stopper there. Kind’ of an updated Lightweight Works MGB or MGC as a Roadster rather than a GT.

Bret...if you'd been to my site, you'd see all those things are in the plan..I've already had a custom Sebring rear valance built, have a Sebring front valance, am going with the X-Power logo on the rear quarters, etc, etc, etc!

As for your web page, I haven't been over there for a few weeks. I'll make a point of it as soon as I can.

Actually, I pop the engine in & out by myself every now & then to make measurements, etc...its real easy!
....it has a TR8 5-speed hooked to MGC rear end via a custom aluminum driveshaft...rear end has disc brakes, anti-tramp bars, panhard bar plus lots of other goodies back there....main thing I'm doing with this conversion is keeping everything British that I can...
...this week, I'm removing a trumpet section up under the passenger fender to route the wiring out through it - you'll not see a wire anywhere in engine compartment!

I'm gonna have to check that out, sounds like a very effective way to dress up the engine compartment
