V12 Door on 68 E-Type OTS

OK, so I finally figured out why the top chrome and trim don't fit properly on my 68 OTS. The previous owner fitted a v12 door on the left side then moved the rear door striker and jam back to fit the door, not realizing that the door was from the WRONG CAR. Actually took quite a lot of tinkering to figure out the problem as all other parts would fit.
Anyway, has anyone else run into this and ideas on how to repair the door opening so the (now properly fitted 68 door) will fit properly in the opening??

I was afraid that this would be the answer. But yes, it's possible. The V12 door is about 1" thicker and about 3/8" longer, so it takes an expert eye to tell them apart, and without any of the trim or fittings, it is nearly impossible (remember that the window frame is interchangeable in the OTS, so it only shows up when fitting the exterior trim and door pannels).

So, looks like I've got some serious banging, leading, and cutting to do to fix the problem. Any advice here would be great.
 
Sorry to here about your door problems!! I am looking to rebuild a coupe and need a door do you know if the doors are different for them also?? Just trying to avoid any problems down the road! Thanks Dave
 
I still think that Jeff is pulling our leg! I don't have a 2+2 or a V12 door to measure but they are noticeable longer. If the extra 9 inches of wheelbase was not added in the center section, where is it?
 
Only wish I was. However the only "pulling" I will be doing is to realign the door frame and reshape the cowl to the proper dimensions. I guess that's what you get when you buy an E-Type "in the box". Photos can be provided if requested.
 
Just a thought, but would it not be better ti locate another door? Try Pauls Jaguar in Fort Lauderdale.

If you start modifying the body to try and fit the door, you run a real risk of destroying the structural integrity of the body shell. Keep in ming that an E-type is monocoque and the body is the frame.
