V-6

Yup, thinking about slipping a V-6 into Lizzie. All depends on how much work is involved. I know there is quite a bit. All depends on how phsyched up I get. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Was just talking about that possibility to schutnik when I pick up Binabox in a week or so. But haven't mentioned it to dahubby. Fair amount of work, fair amount of $. What are you thinking, something like a '84 Camaro? I would love to have the .289 that was in my '66 Mustang in Binabox...

Probably looking at a couple grand after the cost of the engine...

I have to stop thinking V6. I tend to get obsessed.

JB, funny you should mention a 289. A freid od mine in Tulsa had rebuilt a 289 completely. He told me he would sell it to me for $700. But, that was a while ago, and he has sold it since then. Oh well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Keep the 4 and just have fun cruising around. No need to "drag race" rice rockets at every light. Not that it is the number one important thing but value will be higher with the original engine.

There is a B with a 289 in it here in Aiken, SC. The car looks incredible. I haven't had the opportunity to drive it yet but I've seen it tooling around my neighborhood a couple of time. The owner who shoehorned it into the car is trying to sell it but hasn't had a whole lot of luck. I would buy it but it is a bit too much machine for my liking right now.

I've decided I would not do a V6 conversion on the '66. IF I get the serious itch to do that, it would be on Emma. Not in a steel dash early car.

Bruce,it's not so much about racing. I'm not a speed freak. Yea, I just read my thread and I'm not a good speller either. Anyway, I'm an old retired guy with to much time on his hands. You can ask my wife, I get these bright ideas that will cost and arm and a leg. But, after a few days it sort of just falls out of my ear. To which she's thankful, and I am too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

There was an old retired guy who lived next door to me. Everytime I raised the bonnet on my B, there he would be, right next to me with a wrench in one hand and a beer in the other...and I miss him since he moved to Florida.

I understand completely. I am the same way with my business. I always need a project.

BC-do it the easy way and get a SP250, all the shoehorning already done. And all the LBC problems (or more) that are in your "B". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

It's a relatively easy project, AMHIK, depending on the
V6 in question... The Ford will require a remote oil filter
the Chevy won't, The Ford will require a set of custom
headers, the Chevy will too, depending on the year of the
Ford V6, the drivers footwell may need a massage with a BFH,
I'm not certain about the Chevy, as I've done the Ford...

No worry, would horn in on the Mrs., I can always sell Avon or Mary Kay. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Never heard of an SP250 so looked it up on Google. That is one ugly beast! The engine might be worth while - if one could be found!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Well Guinn, they say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder so take a look at this:---Keoke-and the "Hemi" V8 Engine is the sweetest thing this side of Belgian Chocolate. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

While it's true that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, it's also true that ugly hangs right out there for everyone to see (personally, I like it, but then I would, wouldn't I?)

Those of you who are thinking about an engine swap and are planning to attend MG2006, I recommend you come early for the British V8 meet running from Sunday, June 18 to Wednesday, June 21 in Townsend TN, just a few miles from Gatlinburg, on the quite side of the Smokys. There will be a few V6 conversions as well as many V8s there, and there will be tons of info to be had from experts on the subject.

Contact me off list for details (the next issue of MGB Driver should have the details also).

I guess cars are kinda like horses . It's not so much what they look like as what they can do for you. I would really rather have a good, plain quarter horse that could RUN than a pretty paint or appaloosa that was only good for baby-sitting kids. I'm not knocking paints and appies, just making a point.

The nice thing about MGs with V8s or V6s is, you can have both looks and performance - no need for compromise.

Guinn!,When was the last time you saw a Quarter Horse out run an Appaloosa.??---Keoke-- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cowboy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif
