Uugh - Kitchens

I feel your pain regarding the kitchen remodel. Every time I walk into mine (redone about 3 years ago) it reminds me that I could have bought a brand new BMW for what that kitchen cost me.

Maybe I should put a BMW steering wheel on my breakfast chair??? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cryin.gif

Doc- we thought we wanted a 25" curved door base corner/end cabinet...Depot quotes the Kraftmaid version at about $1,800.
Back to the drawing board.

I don't even wanna think what it'd have cost to do if I'd had someone come in here and do what we've got. These cabinet doors are concave. Tricky bits, and a three tier lazy susan behind one I already have hung, lower. Need to engineer detents and cutouts for that. The rolling base cabinet ain't started... tho I have the top done and some LOVERLY 4" soft-wheel casters for it tucked away. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

...I'd MUCH rather be putting together a Lotus twincam. *sigh*

Look at it this way - at least you have a sink...

yeah, there's that. Seems I took it to "working kitchen" and kinda lost ambition. It'll be fine, I just have to work on something else for a bit. Must be a combo of Adult ADD and OldTimers' Disease, huh?

I could have bought a used BMW or a decent LBC for what I paid for the fridge alone (SubZero that SWMBO had to have). /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif

We had a contractor estimate our remodel at about the price of a nice new car...we did it for about a 10th of that, but we did EVERTHING ourselves from the floors, installing the cabinets, countertops, appliances etc. It took us about six months but like building your own car...it certainly has brought us more satisfaction. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Either starting a new project or working on the B. I'd love to help and always offer but I'm stretched too far. I am guilty of helping others and not doing as much as I should for myself.

vping, i was just kidding, i know what ya mean my wife is always telling me i spend more time helping others then doing stuff for us, once our cabinets are delivered the kitchen will be done in three to four days. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/savewave.gif

3-4 days...
Where are you going to get countertops that quick?
I'll fly them in from CT if they are that fast!

Our Kitchen has 35 feet of lower cabinets and 15 feet of upper cabinets. Me & the Mrs. installed them in 1 day. I then set up to make my own countertops. 2 layers of 3/4" Luan. Formica top & Matching molding to the cabs. I made these in two days. This was all 4 days before thanksgiving and the spacklers were still there. What a week that was.
