Re: used parts, where to sell?

Unless you're in a big hurry, why not try the BCF classifieds here first, and then eBay?
This is your target audience. I know I'm always looking for good used parts....

Re: used parts, where to sell?

I'll take a look at what you got as soon as you put them on BCF. I may end up closing my eBay account because of what PayPal wants to do with with your tax information being sent to the IRS.

Re: used parts, where to sell?

I hate selling on EBay. Its become expensive (they even take a percentage of the shipping cost), and its a lot of hastle to box and take stuff to the shipper, only to get a few bucks. Buyers can also be an absolute pain to deal with. You would think that since this is a hobby for a lot of us, and there is kind of a brotherhood in restoring these old cars, that buyers would be cool. Ive found that some are not, and that has stopped me from selling on EBay. I just put my old parts in a bin now, and my kids can get rid of them after I die.

Re: used parts, where to sell?

First, list them here. Excellent target market!

Then, Craigslist or eBay. I've used both for years, and I've bought and sold many thousands of dollars of LBC parts, several cars, and also motorcycles/parts on eBay and never had a significant problem.

eBay gives your stuff huge market exposure, there's nothing else comparable. eBay may be a bit expensive if you're selling something of low value but if you can't sell it anywhere else, it's a winner.

Don't be afraid of eBay, just learn and follow the rules, post good photos, keep your narrative short and accurate and let the bidders do their stuff.

I've sold parts and junk on eBay that I may have never sold otherwise, some of it for more than it was worth. If your item gets into a bidding war among bidders, the sky's the limit! For example, I sold a car on eBay that fetched almost 50% more than it's retail value! Where else can you accomplish that?

YMMV. Good luck, let us know . . .

Re: used parts, where to sell?

He has tried to sell them here. Decent prices I think too, but no bites. I thought I had a buyer for the exhaust manifold, but the guy in my club evidently doesn't want to fix his.
