You can use this forum to discuss the rally - just do divulge what details of the routes, legs or what routes / speeds you picked. You can mention when things happen like flat tires or getting to take a short cut because those things are completely random. Just don't talk about how many miles you calculated for any legs or other details like that.

Two flats in two legs! It's a Triumph... I would have guessed electrical troubles.

What the heck is a 1910 Hupmobile?

Hupmobile is the car you get stuck with when you don't read the friggin' instructions and don't fill in the Car field when you sign up for the game.

I did read your post and instructions, so I guess my awesome computer did not display the box for the car field, or I am blind. In which case, I probably shouldn't be driving.

I'll say... I get a lot of red X's on this PC... Running old software (java versions, etc) and don't get a complete vsual on the web.

I ran the first leg a couple days ago but still don't show up in the standings. Today I got the first leg again, completed it again but still don't show in the standings though my details show I ran the first leg twice. What am I doing wrong?

That is strange. When you complete the leg his are you exiting the game and does it tell you you completed the leg?

Mark, I'm not sure what happened, but I see in the details table that you did run the first checkpoint twice. I deleted the second run of that checkpoint and kept your first attempt, which gives you a current score of 10 points. You are now showing up in the results table. When you complete the second (and subsequent) legs, be sure to not just leave the page, if you have an option of bribing the officials, click "No" rather than just leaving. Also, if you are not given the option to bribe (perfect score on leg) if there is a link to return to the main page of the rally, use that rather than just closing the page. I'm not sure what happened here, but I'm guessing somehow when you completed the first leg you may have left the game in a manner that did not allow the program to update your score in the main players table. At any rate, let me know how it works on the second leg.

Basil, I just ran the second leg with a score of 10 but did not see a link to return to the main page. I then hit the compatibility view button in IE, which was foolish since I'm using IE 8, and got the little window stating I had to resend my information which I did. I was then shown that I had a score of 5 because I encountered the pot hole crew, so I said no to a bribe and exited the rally. The standings show the 10 I recieved originally for that second leg. Tomorrow I'll look again for the link to the main page.

Mark,
I just did some troubleshooting and discovered that when someone completes a perfect leg (score of 10), a bug in the script would not allow the "Return" link to show. Your score was recorded ok and the second score (5) was ignored and not recorded. I have corrected the bug so that now if you are lucky (or skillful) enough to complete other legs with a perfect score, you should now see a link that says "IMPORTANT: Click here to complete leg" which you should click and be taken back to the main entrance page of the game (from there you can navigate away to wherever you want).

Ya know, for not having an engine or transmission, dry rotted tires, or heck, any safety equipment whatsoever, my GT6 is doing pretty good. Ive been very lucky however. My first leg I took the fastest route and ignored the fact that I am supposed to get as close to the specified time. Seeing how I was dead last, I also tried to bribe the judge and ended up being -25 on the very first leg!!!

Given the fact that I also dont have AC, I probably wouldnt be rallying my GT6 in the desert in real life, and certainly not take slower, longer routes. And I dont know much about carburetors, but Im sure it wouldnt do well in the mountains either. And man! I have never seen a hupmobile in my life but I sure see tons of them here!!! I had to look that up to see what it was. I was surprised to find out that its a domestic!

Basil I was lucky enough to get another perfect score on leg 3 and the "IMPORTANT: Click here to complete leg" link was there. Thanks for fixing that.

You've been running a very good rally! (Of course getting two "Shortcuts" and being a Good Samaritan once hasn't hurt! But you do appear to be making good route/speed choices! I have the magic key that let's me view all racers' details
