TR2/3/3A US Web sites offering TR3's for sale

Could someone please recommend some good dealers that publish online and regulalry offer quality TR2/3/3A's for sale.

I'm in the UK and am looking for an excellent example. The prices here have soared and looking at some US prices I have seen, it is cheaper to import and convert the steering rather than buy here! Many folk already import cars in need of restoration from the US, but even restored ones look far better value.

TIA
Tony

Sure, there are many dealers -- oops, you said 'Good dealers'.

This may be a tricky undertaking as it seems to me that most early TRs are changing hands between individuals rather than thru specialized dealers or restoration firms.

Unlike some marques (Big Healeys come to mind) I don't think there are restorers regularly offering sidecurtain TRs -- possibly because these cars are expensive to restore for what the result sells for.

Your best bet may be a forum like this or other lists and clubs in the US which will provide access to the cars that are sold by word-of-mouth or at least people willing to help you assess whether a car offered is as good as claimed.

I don't really enjoy seeing these cars re-cross the pond but exchange rates being what they are this is what will happen for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the info.

Buying somewhat blind would be a great risk and is a concern I have. I'll see about joining some forums and clubs.

I think repatriation is a good thing and every TR needs to go on this spiritual journey at some point, so i'm only really looking to help them out. I have always viewed it as they are only over their on loan, a sort of sunny holiday.

Thanks for the link areo, had to double take on the asking prices. If they are in the condition implied (big IF) then I'd say they are about 1/3 to a 1/2 of UK prices. An A1 example (not concours) would be at least $30k over here (if you can find them). Classic car dealers have waiting lists!

Cheers
T

Next you'll be wanting New Jersey back. Well, come to think of it... I guess that's okay too.

Here is an ad from this past weekend's [Phoenix] Arizona Republic --

58 TR3, Restored Frame up.
Lots of extra parts. $12,000
928-779-1550

I know nothing about it (other than I believe it is actually in Prescott Arizona). I mention it only to offer a price point and because it may be an 'Arizona' car.

I find that the best deals (best valve for the investment)come from individuals and many people who have, collect, or restore British cars advertize on local club websites.

Try this website for links to many British marque clubs here and abroad.
