Well gang,

The spitfire finally went up on the stands today. I am starting to pull the engine in prep for a complete rebuild and possible enhancement. I have some experience in this area but not a lot. So be prepared. I will have many, many questions as I go forward.

Also looking to do the brake system at the same time as it needs it. I have the dual M/C (it a 68) and wonder if the rear brake kit sold by VB will just bolt it. It states that it is for 76-80 but all my research tends to say it will fit. Anyone out there know for sure?

Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]I don't see why not; essentially, all Spitfire rear brake assemblies 1963-80 are the same. There are a few different bore sizes available for the wheel cylinders; used in pairs, though, there shouldn't be any significant problems there, either. The only obvious differences otherwise are "outside" -- specifically, the longer axles on 1973 and later Spitfires have a slightly different configuration of pipe and hose to the wheel cylinder. Shoes and such, though, are the same.

Thanks Andrew,

I have the parts on order. Saved a bundle doing it this way.
