Up-date on the wee beastie

Re: Update on the wee beastie

I'm planning on doing as much of it myself as I can. One reason is I like to tinker, and the second is I'll know the system inside and out, how many mechanics are you going to find that know how to tune a EFI TR6!

However if some one had a nice plenum like the one you have (looks great) for a reasonable cost, I'd be happy to get it. For me the fabricating of parts is probably the most difficult aspect.

At the moment I'm in the reaserch phase. I'm learning about as much about EFI as I can. Knowing me it'll take a while to get things gathered together and get going on it.

I'd love to see the details of what you've done, and I'm sure others here would too.

Re: Update on the wee beastie

That plenum was the most expensive part of the conversion to FI...

It's amazing what a bit of anodizing and some laser etching can do to tart things up. It looked like crap when I first got it.

If you didn't already, go read the megasquirt manual - https://www.megamanual.com/ms2/ = that should get you started thinking about what you'll need.

If it were me, doing it again I'd go look seriously into the EDIS setup. It seems ridiculously easy.

What cost more? The fabrication or the beautification?

Fabrication - over 2k.
Anodizing $75
Laser etch $80

You do the math /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Wow 2K was just for the plenum or for the whole kit and caboodle?

At 2k I can justify getting a 1/2 decent mig and doing a lot of the fabrication myself. Once youve got it running well I'm sure to be peppering you with a lot of questions about the tuning process.

Re: Update on the wee beastie

2k for the plenum.
The rest cost just a wee bit more.
I should have learned to weld...

As an aside, a friend came over for a looksee yesterday. He brought his yellow 6 to show me - he's just finished a rebuild on it.

We ended up taking mine down the road a bit yesterday. It needs tuning in the worst way. It's way rich at idle, and goes really lean when you get on it. It was nice to drive it for a couple of miles though. It already feels stronger than I remember the triples being, but then that's just an sop reading, and so worthless.

I can't wait to have it tuned properly so I can get it on a dyno...

Re: Update on the wee beastie

Must be a great guy (or gal) if they have a yellow 6.

Re: Update on the wee beastie

Re: Update on the wee beastie
