Looking awesome, and many thanks. I might be tempted now mines nearly finished to get another (with all the spare time) and follow your stunning rally tribute and get rid of my scooby. If my wife would let me :nonod:

Mines booked in on wednesday on a rolling road with a 68 year old wizard that races mini's (not many rolling roads know anything about su's)

We should be on the road about the same time.

Andy, if the rolling road has full measuring capability (hp/tq figures across the rpm range)I'd be extremely interested in the results (just peaks would be great), as I think would a bunch of forum members. Does your BJ8 have any modifications? And again, thanks for your help on the windows and clips!!!...I really was clueless and I'd tried the usual sources!!

And if you are tempted to get a car and do all the stuff I've done, you might want to take a cold shower! I love the results, at least so far, but it's sure been a loonnggg road! :crazy:

Steve, never heard of the door vent issue that you ran into. Amazing that it happened and doubly amazing that you figured it out! Looking forward to the seeing the interior work. Man, you are getting close now.

Lin, the door vent window issue was a real head scratcher. I've since picked up a later style (late BJ7 and all BJ8's) passenger window vent from my friend, Paul, at Sports Car Craftsmen. I'll get it rechromed and at some time in the future replace the old style one on the passenger side... another detail to attend to :crazyeyes:

I've got a few interesting things that are planned for the interior. Nothing radical, just some detail items in keeping with my effort to up the grand-touring ante of my rally car. The carpeting will be Wilton wool and the rear package tray, aka electrical compartment area, provides opportunities for a couple detail touches.

My '63 BJ7 has the door vent w/diagonal cut on rear edge of chrome,I've caught myself on it several times.I picked up 2 from later BJ8 that are squared off& will install later.Plus I think seals are better. Genos2

Genos2... wished I'd known the vents were different :wall: By the way, the old style requires removing the entire vent/sideglass as a unit, while with the later BJ8 style you can just slip the sideglass out!.. what a concept. But, I guess you know that.

HealeyRick, I like you Lokar gas pedal, looks good in there! Don't be so hard on yourself, your solutions are looking good!

I had built custom seat mounts for my Ridgard period rally seats Works rally seats project

These used an angle iron that placed the seats 3/4" higher than the stock seat rails. Pic #1 in the project paper. I remade those to lower the seats 5/8". Of course, if you have stock seats mounted on the stock seat rails that isn't an option for you. That said, I do know of people that have had the padding in their stock seats redone to lower the highth by a 1/2" or so. Surprisingly, the 5/8" I lowered mine made a noticeable difference in my relationship to the windshield and steering wheel.

Last week my dad, now 95, got a ride in my, almost done, Healey. He loved it. He still has his MG but hasn't driven it in about a year.

You are indeed blessed to have your Dad around at 95 years young and get to take
him for a ride in your Healey. That will be the highlight of the restoration
when you can take him for another ride in the completed works car.
