Update and question

Update.
After my car was completely disassembled (in one day), it was sand blasted and major rust was found. I delivered it to my friend's body shop and he was let loose. He cut out and rebuilt the rocker and sill assemblies, patched both rear fenders, skinned one of the doors, patched the floor boards, rebuilt the splash guards, and installed the new front fenders. He also straightened the trunk lid, fixed two dents, and repaired the holes left when the luggage rack was ripped off. He is currently block-sanding and prepping for paint.

I should say how my car started. It is a 1979 B that my Aunt bought from a guy who rebuilt it after the engine caught fire, so it has a salvage title. It has been in my family for a long time (I used to play in it when I was 10!). I was “sold” the car when I went into the military in 1994, and it was the first car I ever owned, and for a while my only car. So, to many it would not be worth saving given the condition, but to me it is. I won’t even go into the changes it will be seeing… yet. It will be reassembled this spring.

Question.
Has anyone put the 15 inch Minilite wheels on their MGB? If so I would really like to see a picture. I am leaning toward the 14” but I have never even seen a B on the 15”s. So please send a picture if you have one. Thanks

Another question.
Does anyone have a source for the little piece of the fender that the rubber bumper cars are missing below the tail light? My body guy is prepared to make them, but I thought I would try to buy them first.

Thanks all. I have tons of pictures that I will post another time when a little more progress is made. Cheers!

Re: Update and question

Considering the MGC runs 15" X 5.5" wheels as standard and is virtually the same wheelbase and external panels (and identical from the battery box back). Ican't see that this will be a problem as long as you don't go too wide on the wheels

regards
