TR2/3/3A Unusual Engine Number

An ex USA TR3A has turned up down here with engine number TS58xxxES.

FR suffixes are known but has anyone any knowledge of an S suffix ?

We have a UK VIP visiting at the moment and he's stumped, so it must be obscure.

Is that number on the block or is this a body tag number??

Someone on another forum noted that Silver Seal (Trenton Michigan) put an SS on their replacement engines e.g. TS58XXXESS. I have no knowledge of this myself. Tom

It's the engine number on the block and the stamped numbers appear to match.

A birth certificate will tell if it's original, but not explain the added S.

Thanks Tom. If the birth certificate shows a different original engine, that's the most plausible answer.
