The memory is a terrible thing to loose...

Oh yea! that's a......ummmm..aah. Or maybe a.... Iyaaaa... hooo...
I dunno.
HOw big is it? What other parts was it in with? Is it greasy, dirty, clean?
Kinda rough pic.

Gunna need a better pic....but they could be part of the original exhaust system brackets?

Thanks gentlemen... I will take a better photo and post it this afternoon... by the way... greasy, gunked, and generally looking like somehting from an old engine compartment... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

That is one of the two transmission tunnel braces. They bolt in under the prop shaft and serve as supports / stiffeners for the hand brake. It took two days to install them on my 1956. My experience indicates that the tunnel and handbrake should go in prior to the floor boards. I had the floors and tunnel installed and bolted in when I tried (in vain) to fit the two brackets. I finally used a scissor jack to help spread things enough to slide them in place. It's amazing just how flexible an MGA is when enough force is applied in the right place...

This wouldn't be one of those legendary widgets would it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Good evening to all fellow LBC nuts, Yodas, Jedis, and assorted denizens of questionable character!!!

Mr. daimlerdb18 has suggested that these parts are for the handbrake support. If so... I can't find a diagram that shines any light on the topic...

Just to make sure that these mystery parts are what has been suggested.... A better picture is humbly presented for your consideration:

I have posted another picture for your review.... Any other suggestions??

Here's a pic attached of one of the plates installed in the tranny tunnel.

Ya got me. I'm thinkin underside somewhere. Body most likley, but I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.
I'm not sure if they are for the E-brake. But It's been 2 and a half years since I've been down and dirty in an "A"

Daimlerbd18,
Wow , you went way beyond the call of duty... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif Thanks sooo much for the picture. It IS the part... I just don't remember removing it....

Actually, I am also retoring an AH 100-6 and was worried that one of its parts got mixed up with the A...

Thanks again...

Hey Ron, If you got the parts mixed up would the completed car then be an MGAustin or a AAH-MG? Glad to help.
Braver than I, restoring two cars...it's like having to keep up with two girlfriends.

Daimlerdb18,

You are SOOOOOO right... although, two girl friends eh? hummm, now that's a problem with which I have NO experience... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

By the by... I think it would be called a Mustin Gealey... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
