Underside Paint Color

Ray - I'm betting Misdgets are just like MGB's - no body color underneath...just the Salmon primer!

Interesting, Don - you can see the original Iris Blue on top of the Salmon primer...never seen black under that.....is the whole car that way or just the rear panel?

The main car was green, the rear section was iris blue. It was a junkyard part put on back in the late 60s. I went out and sanded down some of the green underbody just now. As you can see, it's also black underneath the salmon primer.

I also found that same black primer on mine under the salmon!!!

way to go.

Just thought I would mention.

I tried the old epoxy primer from the garage, and it was too old and wouldn't work.

I went to the paint supply today and bought some new. It was available in either 20 liters and hardner for 1150 kroner ($229), or half that for 1050 kroner. I of course got the 20 liters.

Then I needed some yellow paint. They couldn't match the Fruehauf yellow that the car was done with in the 60's, so I was looking at a 2005 Nissan 100LX yellow, which is very similar. The paint man said that it was very similar to a standard fleet colour so he was going to mix some of that up for me. He said it was standard yellow pigment PPG-D719 plus a little bit so it doesn't "scream so much". I just asked him to let it scream. So now I guess when the car is done it will be Screaming Yellow.

LOL
