Well, that was quick. I went in for a doc appointment for my broken ankle this morning, and now am set up for surgery this afternoon. All the fun in one day. Keep you fingers crossed for me.

Drew, having a few bolts in your ankle is no problem at all. Mine work great, no problems.

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers, they help.

Status update: it's 6:30 pm and I am home. Surgery went well, or so my wife tells me. I was in a happy place during the whole thing.

I've got a plate and some screws in the bone that broke, but apparently they felt that the ligaments would heal fine so no other work was needed.

I'm in a boot for at least two weeks, and can't put any weight on it at all. Have to keep it up (toes above nose the doc said) for 48 hours. Docs and the hospital were great. I was at the University of Utah Orthopedic clinic, and wound up being worked on by the head of the ankle/foot department. A really good staff, I can't thank them enough. Very professional group that made me comfortable with the process start to finish. I'll happily do whatever they say I need to do in order to get better.

In at 9 am, out at 5 pm. Diagnosis to surgery recovery in one work day. Can't argue with that. I'll be home at least the rest of the week -- good thing I've got lots of sick time and excellent health insurance (I've been without in the past). I certainly don't take that for granted.

Glad to hear it went well.They gave me Vicoden for
my carpal tunnel surgury.Now I know why it's perscription
only!
Of course my Wife appreciated my "happiness"!

I've got Lortab, but haven't needed it yet--they did a nerve block and it's still wearing off. Could last 20 hrs or so. I'll take it. Did take 1 pill last night in case, and it didn't make me sick (as it can for some) so it will be there when I need it.

Recover quickly - and PROPERLY - follow the instructions they gave you. No need for an encore visit!
