Today I took an extended test drive in the Healey and all-of-a-sudden Everything Was Perfect. I still think the end-seal was my nemesis and was stopping the piston from fully opening the reservoir port, however, maybe the extended use of the clutch caused the seal to seat better or even compress a little. What ever caused the correction, I do not have to dismantle the Master again and for that I am grateful.
Here’s hopping my Healey Saga has ended and I am back to driving and only standard issues for a while. I have accumulated enough “If you think that’s bad, let me tell you what happened to me” stories to last a number of British Car Gatherings.
Bob, I agree. I think the foot valve is sealing and not releasing. If the End-Seal is too thick, it may be retarding the piston from traveling forward far enough to open the reservoir port.
RB-Bob, thanks for the suggestion. Getting under the dash to just disengage the push rods and dust covers left me aching for days but it is a better alternative than taking the carburetors and all else out just to eliminate the end seal. Oh to be 40…oh what the heck…30 again and 50 lbs lighter.
Thanks for all the suppor. It is really appreciated.
