OK, quite a question here: how do you tell a left side of the car hub from the right side hub? Same question for the rear hubs? I sure hope I got the rears ones on correctly.

If my memory is still with me, I seem to recall that you want the direction of the spinner when it is tightening in the same direction as the rotation of the wheel when the car is moving forward. This way, the natural tendency is for the spinner to self tighten rather than loosen. Or something like that.... I am sure others will respond....

Port side <span style="font-style: italic">left</span>-hand thread, starboard <span style="font-style: italic">right</span>-hand.

Other related question:

Q: "How tight should I make those spinners?"

A: "Tight as ya can. Otherwise they'll only come off ONE more time."

As you're facing towards the front of the car the spinners on the hubs on the r/h side will turn in a clockwise direction to remove. The spinners on the l/h side will turn in a counter clockwise direction to remove. If they are otherwise setup, you risk losing a wheel as they will loosen and the spinner eventually fall off.

Mike is CORRECT! I've gone back and edited my erroneous post to correct for future readers.

Profuse apologies!

I tend to forget that too! That's why I use the forward rotation thing....

Mike is right apart from that the spinners are marked which side they go(just to make sure just looked at an e type and an XK that are in the shop

A semi-topical aside:

Was parked in the lot of a local quik-rip a few years ago, come out of th' place and see a father and son team beside the car. Da pointing to th' hub on th' Plus-2 says to Junior: "Them things is dangerous. They come loose and kill folk."

sheesh. Hayseeds.

Good thing they didn't put knock offs on Corvairs - OH THE HUMANITY!!
