Ultrasonic Cleaning

I used to have an ultrasonic tank which I used for cleaning bicycle parts. I'm considering buying another one for cleaning things like master cylinder tanks.

Has anyone tried this and what were the results?

Steve, I've cleaned just about everything on our cars in an ultrasonic cleaner. It works like magic. best thing in the world for carburetors.
I'd have one now if they weren't so bloody expensive.

I can find them new on eBay, etc for around $100-$200 but they are tiny. You can barely fit a slave cylinder in there. The larger ones are several hundred to several thousand dollars. I'm keeping an eye out for a good used one.

Steve, I was looking at a larger one last week, but 29 grand was a bit out of my budget!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

That's exactly what I was planning to spend! Oh wait, you mean dollars. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I've been looking for an ultrasonic cleaner as well - mainly one that will take the intake manifold from a newer VW TDI (preferred method for cleaning out carbon build-up) but would use it for other parts as well.

Definitely not cheap.

One of our pharma clients is purchasing one for a lab we're designing. As I needed to call them about design requirements (note: larger units usually require 240v power) I asked the rep about getting one. He said they occasionally have demo units to sell so I asked him to put me on the list if one turns up. The benefit is the company is local to me in NJ.

Keeping my fingers crossed... :square:

you might also ask him about the trade ins - take outs ,

places like that need them to be certified , and I am sure after awhile they trade them in.....
