It's always a pleasure to visit friends in Europe and the UK. So, when the opportunity arose to combine a business trip with a holiday, we were eager to travel. However, this past 2 weeks was an exercise in humility. Basically, our dollar is not worth very much. As an example, we have always enjoyed an English style Indian Tandori restaurant for delicious food on a tight budget. BUT, this time we paid approx. ₤32 ($64) for 2 dinners (including ₤4.50 for a pint of diet coke!!! – that $9.00). Not many souveneers for the kids and grand kids and certainly no TR parts. ( I did buy a couple of tubes of Hylomar - fairly cheap)
Actually the UK and parts of Europe are in a recession (Like US) The difference is that their goods are expensive outside their home markets. Our goods are cheap but we still have a recession - go figure!
You can’t put a price on the memories. Here are a few snaps of our trip.
