Uh Oh, I do I really have a 1969?

True Tony. His fenders may be correct and the bumpers incorrect.

the side marker light behind the front wheel make me think its european the on US cars the vin should be in the door in euroupe they are under the hood by the steering colom.
but I think it is a early sevetys august 70 to august 74 car
dose it have an alternator or dynamo?
cheery
steve

The VIN is: GAN4U74412G, the tags are rounded off, here are some more pics, the original label in the door sill is faded and I cant read anyhting on it anymore

Please dont mind the blue wax, but as you can see, there is still a good even lip on the insed of the wheel wells, if someone just cut them, they did a good job

And it has a generator, not a alternator

I did just find a tag in the door: GUN 009254 P
and the engine tag is: L2CD-DA (small sized A) - 20503

Just dialed into this.

Those arches are, as TJ says, home made. After as many years as these things have seen, it's never a surprise to find these kinds of 'mods'.

Okay....

1. It has '69 'chicklet' seats - rare & hard to find.

2. It has '69 side marker lights.

3. Curved VIN tag is correct fro a '69.

4. VIN GAN4U74412G is for an early '69 Midget made between Jan '69 & before all the changes in Oct '69.

5. Based on VIN, bumpers are correct.

6. Dash is the first North American padded dash - new in '69.

7. "L2CD-DA (small sized A)- 20503" is not a Midget engine number. It shold start with "12CD"

If any of that helps......

Wow thanks a million Tony, The engine has the MG plate on it, were there other MGs at the time that used the 1275? I am quite astonished that this inst the original engine, makes me wonder how many miles it has on it now

You never worry about mileage on an LBC unless it's perfect in every way, a 1-owner and low mileage!

Reread that engine tag again....clean it up real good first.

&, Yes, there werre other LBC's that used the same engine....but all or most of them started with 12something.

HAHA good, because today on the way to advance auto, the odometer quit working and is stuck at 97,900 I think it is. Maybe I am reading the wrong tag, but this is one that is on the passenger side of the motor, that is riveted to the block

L2CD-DA (small sized A)- 20503

Is probably 12C/DA/H 20503

& that would work.

VIN and engine number would both match an August 1969 production date.

Makes it early enough that it's pre-major year changes.

Aok maybve it is a 1 then... I will super dooper clean it off today.... but thanks for your help guys... I did get thinking that these fenders migth even be custom made, becuase where the fenders meet the rear trunk area on that peak behind the tail lights, there is a gap, and on the drivers side, the paint was very very thin before I painted it, and the metal looks almost new
