Two tone colors

My 66 BJ8 is currently Colorado Red. Since so many Healeys are this color, I have decided to do it in two tone, painting the lower part only in order to minimize to work. Ivory and black seem to be the obvious choices. Does anyone have any ideas on some other bottom color that would work?

Welcome to the forum. If you are interested in a factory original color scheme, Colorado Red over Black was the original offering on the BJ7, BJ8. Ivory was not one of the choices. If originality doesn't matter, any color that you like is fine. Peoples color tastes vary greatly.

red over black is always a good choice. To me the white is less striking (and nonoriginal). If you are interested in a non-original color scheme, I think silver might work nicely, maybe a very dark nonmetallic gray, perhaps even midnight blue? If you are handy with PhotoShop, you might want to consider creating some images to help you visualize some options.
 
Rafe...I have a Colorado Red Healey...but I see the black and red to often...me...even though it is not original...I like the look of the white/red...but hey...it's not what I like...it's your car...good luck... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
 
Thanks for the ideas. My car is going into the shop on August 8th, so I have only one more week to decide on the paint color. Right now, I will most likely go with red/black. I know that it is common, but not nearly as common as Colorado Red. At least it is an original combo, so it is a safe choice. I actually took a photo of my car. printed it out on 8X10 photo paper, and then took an X-acto knife and cut out the cove portion of the photo. Then, armed with this, I made the rounds of car lots, and overlaid the photo over the paint on cars that looked like they might have possibilities. I then took another photo of the photo and printed the new one. Just picture my office with photos of my Healey all the way around the room. My friends think I am nuts.....not really, just obsessed. I thought that I was getting somewhere with a plumb color and tried other variations of red, but now I am back to black. Life will be so much easier when this is all over. My sons tell me that I have too much time on my hands. It's fun.

I have a red over black BJ8. Shortly after it was restored by one of the previous owners it looked so good that it was used in a TV advert (for tea). I can certainly recommend this combination.

Did anyone notice the PINK and black Healey on eBay, or was that just bad color definition on my monitor? To each his own, but I think Barbie would've loved it.

It was PINK, it was my car and it IS a factory color combo.
My wife decided on the scheme.
