Awfully nice TR3 on Ebay: 150473489161

And yet another at: 220645014353

About the green one: "4 coats of primer, 8 coats of paint on frame; 4 coats of primer, 10 coats of paint on car"

No wonder this Forum is so active, and so great.

The black one has a TR4 engine and transmission. I don't care about "show competition" stuff, but I'm curious. Do the judging rules knock you down for swapped out engines and drivetrains? What about interior and trim colors?

I can hear you now: "Oh no honey, I was... I was just... I was just looking at them, honest."

If you buy another TR this year you'll be living in my garage. It's nice but I don't think either of us will be happy with that arrangement.

As I recall the judging guidelines would penalize a TR3 that had a TR4 engine (if they could tell). I think may they allow a swap from another TR3 if the engine is correct and the number is higher.

Interior and trim -- I don't know. Since (in theory) you could order almost anything it would be hard to call any interior 'incorrect' if it was in original style materials.

KVH,
Yes, The TRA Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines definitely do deductions for engine/drivetrain variations. Major deduction if a TR4
engine is in a TR2-3; minor deduction if the Comm.number/engine number are not in sync (correct engine, 20K difference instead of 300-400. It's tough to figure out if there is a TR4 trans in a 3, but if it's the difference between 1st & second place, the judges have been known to crawl under for a glimpse of the tranny.

George has it correct on the trim.

The Black car - nice!

The Green car - what's with the chequered thing under
the pedal assebly? And the raised White letter tires don't
look right on that car.
I know ..... "picky,picky,picky".

My only thought on the black one was that it was a shame under the hood wasn't as nice looking as the exterior and interior of the car.

The chequered thing looked like it might be a cover up for where brake fluid might have leaked and damaged the paint.
