Today at our practice day for the upcoming race weekend, there was a beautiful Lotus 51, FF, and a stunning Lotus 23, (S/N61) that came out to play. I have to admit, that I tried like heck to wrangle a turn at the wheel of the 23, but didn't have any luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yea the 23 would be a blast to drive. Somebody makes a street legal kit car patterned after those..

Looks like we're making the most of our pre-snow weekends...I know I am!

And I know I'm getting old when a Lotus 51 FF is considered a classic car.

Anyway, I went to the Vanderbilt Centennial Event this past weekend, at Mitchel Field (where Chas. Lindberg left from).
We had a Time Trials on public roads and I also got to see some neat old crocks.
This Lotus 11, was *very* nice (that's my Spridget in the background). I read somwhere that there was 270 of these things built and that there is now 300 "remaining" (that does not include the replicas such as the Westfields). Hmmm.....
Also saw this old Norton-powered formula car (it had painted MG wheels)...built for the old 500cc class, I think.

More of my Vanderbilt pix here:
