Two "A" Things

1. Can someone please post a picture of the correct placement of the seat bottom rails and adjusters. I am putting my "A" back together and have forgotten how to install them onto the floor boards.

2. Need some advice as to what can be utilized to bring back the luster to the dash knobs.

Good morning... Looks like you and I are at about the same point in our A restorations...

The knob set from Moss (about $40) is well worth the cost and look great on the dash... I tried the shoe polish that Jack has suggested but was never happy with the result.. (Call me OC)... painting the white letters is not something that I am particularly skilled in...

I will take a few pictures of my installed seat rails in the next few days and post them for your reference.... I think a diagram of the locations of the mounting holes are available in the Moss catalog...

Ray - Polish the knobs with a buffing wheel and stainless compound. this will bring the knobs to a nice new shine. After the knobs are buffed, thin, white paint can be run into the lettering, allowed to dry then any pint that got smeared outside the groves can be wiped off with a rag soaked in solvent. If the knob comes out with a brownish look to it, this is an indication that the knob is hard rubber and not bakelite and will need to be treated with a special stain specifically designed for this material. I have this information somewhere, but will have to dig for it and sent it to you later. If the knobs melt under the buffing wheel it means that they are the cheap replacements available today and will need to be replaced.

Ray,

Here are two pictures of the seat rail installation. Hopefully this is what you needed.

Keep in mind that when you install the seats you will need to slide the rails into the guides on the bottom of the seat frame and then install the rails to the floorboard..

All the rails are the same so it does not matter which one goes where...

Ray,

Keep in mind that I have yet to install the carpet and the pictures reflect that...

I used self securing nuts on the bottom that I purchased at Home Depot. The originals were too far gone to reuse...
