Tweaking new distributor installation

I recently decided to install my newly rebuilt and recurved distributor with Igniter inside(Advanced Distributors, LLC) and the new Flame Thrower Coil. I also put in new Magnecor Race Wires from Moss and new NGK Iridium plugs. I jacked up the timing to 14 degrees at 900RPM with a total advance of about 36 degrees at 2800RPM.

Thanks Jeff!!! My car runs like a bat out of you know where now. I'm really pleased with everything from the distributor work and coil to the new wires and plugs. I did the work incrementally and each addition made the car run a bit better, but the biggest change came from the recurve and the new plugs.

I had been running Bosch Platinum plugs and was very happy with those, but there is a noticeable difference with the Iridiums, since they were the last item changed.

Now if I could only locate a nice bright red distributor cap it would look as good as it runs.

BTW, no affect at all on the radio with the Magnecor wires.

How about this? BAHWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just exactly where is it that you park your car when no one is at home?

My next big move is on the right side of your engine, meaning the tri-carb setup. How do you like it and is it difficult to setup? Also, I think that you're using the new Ratco linkage, is that correct?

Yeah.....I'm jealous.....but I'm only a few steps behind you now!!

Hmmm... Well, the balancing the carbs can be a pain, and the linkage, before the Ratco upgrade, was very difficult to deal with; I never was able to get 100% of the throttle until I changed over to the new linkage. Make sure your carbs are in good shape before installing this upgrade.

But I can't argue with performance, she runs good.

If I had to do it over again, I might also look at the dual 2" SU's. But again, there are quite a few triple carb setups out there now, and it's hard to argue with a proven product. Plus they look so so cool!

My plan was to get the micro polished carbs that are completely rebuilt and flow tested prior to installation along with the Goodparts triple manifold. These come mounted and flow tested on the polished manifold and include new SS fuel lines as well. Refinished linkage is included, but I'll probably go with the Ratco setup.
