Ok, I made some modifications (hacks) to the forum software so now you can again turn OFF the side boxes - sort of. It works a little differently that before. In the past, when you turned them off, they would be off on every page except the Portal Page - which most people don't visit much. So now, if you turn them off, they will still be there when viewing the Forum Summary page (the page that lists forums) and the Topics List pages for the forums. However, if you have the left or right boxes turned OFF in your profile, when you click on a thread to read (or make a reply) you will have the full screen real estate. Also, when you view a list of PMs you will see the boxes, but not when you view a specific PM (or make a reply).

I also like the Union Jack which almost covers the mysterious shape on the top left of most forum header pages.

Still have that pesky "blue text on grey background" issue every once in a while.
