Hi There - Great Forum so had to join!
I am Russell Filby of North Somerset , England and I run the Turner Register which supports owners of Turner Sports Cars worldwide to keep these great low production cars on the streets and tracks - Or assisting with restorations offering advice and assistance. I keep a register of all known surviving cars and am always looking to uncover cars that might have dropped off my radar - So if you own a Turner or know of a Turner please get in touch! I also run a comprehensive website dedicated to these cars at https://www.turnersportscars.co.uk so please do drop in and visit the site.

Regards

Russ

Hi Russ

Nice to see you on this great website.

Hope you have luck tracing lost Turners in America

I am not doing to well on Rochdales at the moment

Kind regards

Tony and DUFFY

Welcome - like the looks of those little cars - what's the platform? Midget?

Hi & Thanks
They were originally based around Austin A30 common componants - Early cars known as an A30 Sports - Many componants shared with the later midgets. Later cars had Ford pre cross flow engines and Triumph Herald/Spit wishbone suspension. Only 670 aprox built 1955 - 66 but very successful little cars in racing both in period and still so today in vintage racing - Especially in the UK and US.

Cheers Tony

Keep searching - These forums are a great way of finding history and tracing cars - Just found a long lost Turner in Queensland Australia through the Turner website.

Keep your eyes and ears open. In the world wide web things always turn up somewhere.

Welcome to the club.

Welcome to our humble forum! I love seeing rarified cars here! Basil

Hi Russ:

I have been familiar with Turners for years and have always liked them.
As you may know, the Sprite was partly (or mostly) inspired by the Turner.
Last year I briefly assisted a friend who has a car repair business when he put a 5-speed in a 1600 Turner.

At the 2006 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, there was a "Turner Reunion". I participated in that event and took pictures as well.
The first picture on this webpage (link below) shows Turners on grid before the special Turner Race
One of the lads in that event had bought his Turner in '57 and had actually run it at Sebring that year!
It was light blue and I think he has since sold the car.

These pictures (below) were taken at this years 2007 PVGP. They had a special race for Spridgets and all cars with BMC "A" engines.
I ran in that race and, as you can imagine, there were a lot of Turners in that race. Here's some pictures of that race.

I am actually pulling off a pass on the red Turner in this picture.

Anyway, Welcome!

I know that I have seen a couple of Turners showing up in dealer inventories from time to time, such as this one. They are beautiful cars. I expect we will learn more about them here over time.

Welcome to a great forum and a great group.

Enjoy the Ride.

Hi There Russell;

This is Russ writing from PA USA:

I still have`nt seen (Steve A. Car # 64/624) on here: I guess he`s having some problems registering but what that may be; I don`t know?

Steve and I have been become pretty good "Buddies" regarding these Turners: He`s one heck of a nice person!

The Turner on ebay is going quite well for one needing a complete restoration: $3.5K and 6 days to go:

Well; Have fun & please keep me posted on your car via email:

Regards, Russ /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

PS: Hi Nial: The person who had a 5 speed put into their Turner; Was that Steve Agins from Ft. Lee by any chance? I suspect it had to be cause he`s the only one around locally with a Turner which has a 5 speed:

PPS: Nial; It is Steve from Ft. Lee: He has had "Pete" work on his car once in awhile:

Hi Turner. In the mid 60s, I raced a Morgan in NSW OZ, & a couple of my mates raced Ford 115E 1500cc Turners.
Wal Donnelley was quite successful, & went on to race a couple of seasons on Europe. Ian Hawke was restricted by lack of cash, but always up the front half of the field.

I did one race meeting in Ian's, & found it to be a realy nice track car, light to drive, & well balanced.
