the right turn signal on my 3000 doesn't work.
i replaced the flasher and checked out the
trafficator. it quit once before,but came back
on after i replaced the bulbs. it has new bulbs
now.i can't find any bad wires.is the flasher
relay a reasonable possibility?

Flasher relays are always a possibility, but given the erratic behavior, I might suspect a bad connection somewhere - especially a ground wire that is loose or no longer grounded well at the chassis. You might inspect the wire connections, clean and lubricate any connections you find (I use Vaseline). After all these years, electrical connections can become suspect! AL Bradley

The 8 terminal flasher relay is a real possibility.There are numbers marked on the cover but hard to see. They are numbered 1,2,3,4 top to bottom on the front edge & 5,6,7,8 top to bottom on the back edge.

#6 = RF
#7 = RR
#2 = LF
#3 = LR

Put a voltmeter from terminal 6 to ground to check the RF & so on. If any of the four terminals don't show a pulsating voltage the problem is likely in the relay itself.

Remove the relay, tag the wires carefully. The cover can be gently removed & the relay contacts cleaned. They are small & delicate. Don't bend anything. Check continuity of the relay coils - terminal 8 to the flasher frame & terminal 4 to the frame. I would expect somewhere between 40 & 60 ohms if all is well.

I have solved several cases of flasher problems in this way.

Is it just one flasher on the RH side or two? If only one, check the connections inside the rubber boot of the light fitting. I had a similar problem and found that the small spring system, which the base of the bulb pushes against for a connection, was rusted out.

neither bulb flashes.still messing with it.
traced all the wires and tested the flasher units.no luck yet. maybe a short in a wire some
place. have to crawl back under it AGAIN!!

Check for the brake lights, they also work through the DC10 relay. This relay is on the LH inner fender by the brake fluid reservoir. This relay is '40's design with points & relay coils which can become corroded.
