Hi Folks:
Need to know what color turn signal lensI need for the front, and the back. This is on a TR3-A post 60000 commission number.
Thanks, Tinkerman

I may have a couple of the clear ones, if you need 'em - have to check the shop...

Yep:
I need them. When I bought this car it was a basket case and just sems to have gotten worse as the years go by,

Thanks, Dick

Hi all,

On the front, those are the clear glass "beehives", same as early TR4, right? I just put together a nice set for my car (combined from 3 separate auctions), which has been incorrectly fitted with the late TR4/TR4A/250/5 plastic-lensed lamps for the 30 years I've owned it.

I wanted the "correct" lamp since I'm converting back to the "correct" grill too. But, I also was interested in using glass lenses, since I plan to use extra wattage amber halogen bulbs in the turn signals, so they are as bright and noticable as reasonably possible. I was concerned the halogen bulbs might melt the plastic lenses, although an intermittent signal may be okay.

On the rear of the TR4, I plan to use the "European specification" amber & red lenses, fitted with white halogen bulbs.

All my concerns about as-bright-as-possible lamps probably comes from having been run into a couple times, including one time in the TR4. If it happens again, it won't be because they didn't see me!

Say, I've also been looking for TR4 parking lamps, if anyone happens to have a spare set lying about. (Not certain, but I don't think these are quite the same as TR4A/250/5... I know the fitting on the fender was different. Please correct me if I'm wrong!)

Yep - TR2's and 3's had the flatter glass lenses, the lights being mounted outside the grille. The apron on the 3 that I had was replaced at one time by a 3A apron, and when I restored it, I went back to the correct pieces. Still have some bits left over, squirreled away somewhere in the black hole I call my shop!

[/ QUOTE ]Right. L488 for the earlier "flat" lens lamps, and L594 for the "beehive" lens lamps. Beehive lenses will fit on earlier lamp bodies, but flat lenses will not fit on later lamp bodies as the bulb sticks out too far.

The TR2s and TR3s with the small-mouth apron had cutouts in the inner fenders to accommodate the deeper L488 lamp body (again, because the bulb is recessed), so it's pretty easy to tell which apron was originally on an otherwise bare tub.

Well, either the black hole swallowed them, or I shipped them with other parts when I sold the car. Apologies, but I'm sure you'll be able to get a couple, either on ebay, or from one of the usual suspects.

Mickey

Thanks anyway Mickey. I see them on eBay quite often so now that I know what I need I will be extra vigilant.
