I've finally admitted that I'm out of time/patience/tools/skill to solve my exhaust issues. The bruises are now healing (I'm not kidding) from my battle to try and get the exhaust pipe and header separated, and I was facing having to figure out how to get the car to the exhaust shop (again) with it not running.

So I caved and made an appointment with our local British car mechanic -- a very well know local guy who knows these cars (he has a beautiful MG TC and TD of his own, and works on the cars of many of our local club's members). With my work and gigging schedule these days there was no way I'd get the car finished before the snow flies, and I *really* want to drive a bit more before I have to put the car away for the winter.

So I'll be taking advantage of my 100 miles AAA towing and will drop the car off the day after Labor Day. He'll get the leak sorted out and do a full tune-up (something else I was struggling with). I've already got all the parts, just don't have the proper tools or skills to get it done.

Yes, I'm cheating a bit, but sometimes it's what you got to do.

Whatever gets you behind the wheel Drew - no worries!

Discretion is the better part of valor!

There will be a little more space in your wallet but you'll be able to enjoy the car before the snow flies. Update when it's back, please!!

:iagree:

You've got more than the basics behind ya, Drew. With time you'd sort it, but time ain't waitin' for ya. Get it done and enjoy driving.

...you can tear it down again LATER for the experience. :jester:

Pro'lly some time inna winter of 2020 or so.

I feel good that I've been able to reasonably diagnose the issues (with help from y'all) and spot the likely cure. It's a good case of not having the proper tools at hand nor the proper amount of time.
