Tubeless tires

I know this has been covered before, but is it safe to run tubeless tires without tubes on stock TR6 wire rims? My old redlines are tube type with inner tubes.

...tubeless tires without tubes on stock TR6 wire rims???

Any tires without tubes on original wire wheels will leak. If you mean tubeless tires with tubes, then yes, it's OK. I bought my wheels, tires and tubes from Hendrix Wire Wheel and they mounted, balanced and shaved them. The tires are tubeless radials. Hendrix is considered the wire wheel guru in this country, so if he says it's OK, I'll go with that. Besides, do they even make "tube type" tires anymore??

:iagree:

However, don't be surprised if your local tire shop does not. Technically, the tires need to be derated when run with tubes and the tire makers don't publish the derating information. Any tires you buy will have a much higher weight rating than your TR6 requires, so there is no problem; but the tire shop may want to adhere to the letter of the law (for fear they could be held liable if something goes wrong).
