Is there a generic type of thermostat (I don't care which heat range for now) that I can buy over the counter at my local parts store?
What vehicle/year do I ask for etc?

Thanks.

Have a loooong drive tomorrow, I think the bugger has stuck closed.

Sorry it took so long Barry. I was making a pot of coffee, and toasting some English Muffins, to go with my hand cut, homemade, lime English Marmalade!
Jeff

Fits a treat.
Now to spend the next three hours cutting out a gasket....
Thanks again Jeff. Sorry to disturb your brekkie.

I'd email you a gasket, Barry, and save you some work, but I can't find the "Mail Now" slot in the computer. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
A tip on making the new gasket:
Lightly grease one side of the gasket material and stick it to the thermostat housing. Gently tap all around the edges with a small ball peen hammer, doing the inside, outside, and the bolt holes. That should cut the new gasket perfectly.
Jeff

Use some form a gasket, works great for there.

email me one of those marmalade muffins too.
The low tomorrow morning is supposed to be about 40*, It probably won't even open.
Actually Jeff, I think I have one for the B hanging around somewhere, if it's not exact, it'll be close enough that some RTV should fill the hole.

Shouldn't take that long to cut out a gasket!! Do you have the old housing in hand? Glue the gasket paper to it (3M trim adhesive sets fastest!) Use an Xacto knife (or a razor knife, but I prefer Xacto!) and trim out the gasket by "reaming the edges of the paper through the holes, then trim off the edge!! Presto!! Perfect gasket! Another method is to used a ball-peen hammer and tap the edges of the holes to cut the paper, but I prefer the blade method!
