TS5616L Has Found A New Home.... MINE!

How I put up with my addiction I'll never understand. This deal started out with a simple inquiry about a TR owner LOOKING for some parts. It ended with me BUYING a car..How the heck did THAT happen?

Anyway...here's TS5616L...it has the original engine/transmission/Lockheed rear. It also came with an "A"-type overdrive (not installed). It did not come with the front apron as the PO is using it on his "2"...

I don't have it home yet...but I should have it in about three weeks.

The saga continues...

Looks pretty unmolested as it sits. Quite a project. Great to find an early car in that unmodified/original condition.
Better than the Betty Ford clinic for therapy.
Good luck.

You have the same disease as me. I have twice enquired about cars for friends and ended up buying another Triumph. Still, you can't have too many.
Your 3 looks great.
I thought that you didn't have any more room in your wee garage!

If it is any consolation to you, I have one at my shop that is in slightly worse condition. The owner is having me do the worst of it so he can finish it out(amature body guy).No doubt you will be comming to the forum often for tips ect..good luck!! and have fun!!

I see many bags of sand, glass, and plastic media in your future. If the remainder is as original as what we can see, what a great find. In which case I'ld be tempted to keep it original in a restoration, and just have it as a show car.

Ahhh.. Parts for the other 2 or a second resto project? I'd love to come across one like that for goodies for mine, then stow it away for future use. Looks pretty crusty.
Congrats!

Well, I saw a wanted ad for a late TR3B head and parts. I emailed the owner because I thought i had what he wanted. I didn't...but he had parts I wanted for TS1203LO....specifically the early head, intake and carbs. Plus he had the "A" overdrive.

We exchanged a few emails, I helped him find the head that he wanted and then he offered me the whole car plus the OD.

Like I said, I don't have the car at home yet but it will be coming here soon.

And I did a little work on TS1203LO today...

I've been soaking the cylinders since I pulled the head a few weeks ago. Today I hooked up a battery to it and, after a tap or two on top of that pesky, rusty #4 cylinder, I got the engine to turn over with the starter! I will have to put in a new sleeve in #4 but t's nice to know that it will spin over!

I've now moved TS1203LO over to the lift and pulled my '56 F100 project into the fab shop so I can get the "real" engine and trans installed along with the rear axle. I plan on having at the Detroit Autorama in March.

Yank, you are a better man than me. I would have called that a parts car. But what do I know. I just walked away from a 58 that looked just like that. Well, a little worse.

It was a great deal, if and only if, you got the hood prop that is in the first picture. Without that, I would have walked.

Seriously, I wish you the best of luck and admire your desire.

I just remembered that a friend of mine has a garage full of parts that are either brand new or rebuilt, which he was accumulating for his 1956 TR3 restoration project. Along the way, he fell in love with a new Z-4 BMW (that his wife also loves) and sold the TR to a guy in NY. The NY guy took it straight to a resto shop that was supplying every part for the frame off, so he wasn't interested in anything that Jim has, including the new supercharger and crated rebuilt tranny with A-O/D. Let me know if you want to contact him.

Several months ago, someone else on this forum expressed interest in the parts, but at that time Jim had a death in the family and cars were on they back burner. I can't remember who it was, so I'm putting the info out there again.
