Trying, really trying

After a run to the city hardware store for pavers for the pellet stove base in the garagemajal I thought given the great weather and knowing it was going to deteriorate, I'd take Agatha tooling after a lunch at the local eatery. Hubby took Onslow and off we went. He went first as vanity forced me to california dust Agatha. Off I went and at the stop sign at the end of the first leg, Agatha refused to go a step further. Nice guy hand pushed her to the side of the road and out of the way of traffic. Called husband who was already at the restaurant. As I waited a total of three vehicles stopped, all local and all friends and together we waited patiently for husband. As he came upon us, he said I'll go home and get the Envoy and I'll tow you home. We all continued to visit. Husband went home, off loaded the hardware purchases, returned and attached the tow strap and home we went. Won't go into the details of what we think went wrong but enough said. I tried for the last hurrah but was thwarted. Did do a test drive (about 10 miles) and Agatha purred. Top down, devil may care attitude and great performance. All the way in the rear view mirror was the image of husband in the Envoy and his just wanting to go home and have done with the test drive. Not trading in hubby just yet - his patience far exceeds mine. Upon arrival home he asked "Do you think you drove Agatha long enough to see if she was behaving?" I just smiled and said Thank You Sweetie.

Understandibly so. I use to stop on the side of the road for two or more bugs on the windshield when I had my '69 Super Bee.

Nothing to feel vain about. That's not vainity. That's taking care of her. :thumbsup: A lady should always look her best as possible. :wink: That's why I sold the Bee. (I didn't always have time to put on my makeup.)

Glad you got to go for a drive. Always a place to run down here if you can't wait till spring.

Thanks guys. Enjoyed the responses. Today it started off first in morning at 35 and has since dropped a few degrees. Engine heat is nice but the wind is howling so I guess Agatha will nestle in her garage.

Firewall bulkhead heat can keep yer tootsies warm but wind thru your hair at those temps can freeze yer face right off!!

I've been thinking about this.

I've got to hand it to you. You have a beautiful car. As much as I'd like to own and drive something that nice, I don't think I could. (Especially down here.) I would be too concerned something might happen to it; rock chip, ding, scratch etc. I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself on the drive and especially when I parked.

I don't know too many ladies who would care to be towed home, much less any who are actually capable of doing so. I love my wife and she is a very capable woman, however; I wouldn't feel comfortable with her and towing the Midget, much less something as nice as Agatha.

This also speaks volumes about your husband. Not only does he have a beautiful car and a capable wife, he has the utmost confidence in his wife to get her beautiful car home unscathed.

I only have onbe thing to say.

Thanks for your kind words. When we were fortunate enough to restore Agatha she was meant from the get-go to be a driver. It didn't matter that she was considered special. All of the trips with Agatha have been eventful and rewarding. She is the best maker of friends that I know. I make every effort to take her out at least once in the week. She seems to thrive on being driven and I, after almost 8 years, know when there is the slightest problem. Interestingly I knew when I took her out that she was running rich but thought perhaps I just need to adjust her carbuerators slightly and decided I'd do it at the local eatery. Turns out she was running rich and for whatever reasons the nuts had loosened and the oil in the little thingy was sorely lacking. Don't know what to call the little thingy just know its supposed to show resistence when you put the plunger in. All appears to be well now. I am not engine language literate just know the general workings of this combustion engine and when there's a problem can explain more than the thingy isn't right or I need an "LIO" part because the original one is missing.
