Everyone has asked about what to put in the trunnions and how. Ran into this on a TR8 deal

ive got one of them, first time i went to oil the trunnions it started leaking out of the fittings and none of the oil went into the trunnion. the seals on them are crap.

I built one of those too, using Justin Wagner's recommendations - had the exact same problem of it leaking. I didn't try to seal the fittings but I think if I try it again I'll just invest in a small grease gun and load it with oil when needed.

I bought one of these from another individual. It's sitting in the box in my office to be returned as I type. It will not pump oil into a brand new zerk. Problem is he won't give a refund, just a replacement.

I found it was easier to simply put oil into my grease gun which would pump it in fine. Just a pain to clean the grease out to do it.

Just now getting back to this thread, Randall, saw that tool many years ago in a TR6 info website. I have looked in all the marine stores in the area and have never seen one.

The handle on mine bent the first time I used it, so I just use synthetic grease now.

I couldn't find it in a local store either. Even the Mercury Marine dealer said they'd never heard of it (and weren't interested in letting me look at their catalog). So, I got mine the way I mentioned before, by going to
https://www.mercurypartsexpress.com
and click on 'Accessories', put in your zip code and select a dealer. Then click on 'Engine Oil/Lubricant/Care Products', 'Mercury Lubricants', and 'Mercury Precision Grease Guns'.

I just tried it and it's still listed; but I can't figure out how to give you a direct link to the page. The site apparently uses cookies or something, rather than links.

They are still available. I just bought one in Canada from the local marina for $28.

Same experience, the dealer hadn't heard of it and wasn't all that enthusiastic about looking it up (boat business must be good). The part number on the VTR website was 91-37299, but that number has changed apparently. But we found it eventually and ordered it up.
