My car when I bought it came with only one FS key with no number, which fitted only the ignition and the glove box. The doors and trunk were always unlocked so I got new locks but they were all different numbers. I've just been able to source an FS lock and key the number of which coresponds to the original as shown on my heritage cerificate and which is the same as my two original door lock barrels which I kept. I now have three barrels and a key which are all the same number, and my existing ignition and glove box barrels use the same FS type key so I'd like to put the three identical barrels into the ignition and the doors then put the removed ignition barrel into the trunk. I'll then need only two keys for the complete car instead of the 4 I now have to use. That will be as per original spec. I've a spare trunk lock mechanism so I'm trying to remove the barrel from it. I've got the spring loaded part off the back and now see that there is a pin which seems to hold the square rod which goes through the trunk. Do I have to remove that rod to access the lock barrel? If so is the pin tapered?
If not, how does the lock barrel come out?
